| Because relaiblity can be just as big of a factor in a stock TT. Granted the probability of breakdowns or other reliability issues increases on a modified car, but I would have to say the bigger issue is usable HP for the street. In my case, I'm stage III (maybe III.5 :-P) and I've got plenty of power to break my tires loose in first gear and at times second gear - on colder days second gear breaks loose more frequently. By my definition, that's enough power for a daily driven TT as anything more is a waste of energy and rubber (I'm not that big into saying I can spin my tires in third gear). Mind you, I'm running 275 tires in the back - which again is what I consider a reasonable limit for a DD (no rubs and I haven't rolled my fenders). If the car is a weekend car, or a track [not drag] car (using track tires) then my answer would be different. But for the most part I'd have to say anything over 500 hp at the crank takes you past the limits of being a practical car for typical street use in terms of reliability and traction. Oh, and another point on the reliability issue....look at the exotics and Vette's (Z06) that are putting down gobs of major HP north of the between 400 and 500 crank HP. They're reliable - but I'd still toss out that traction is the limiting factor in their case (despite running pretty wide rubber). IMHO Dave
